Adopt

Kittens at Washington County Humane Society

Welcome to the Humane Society of Washington County’s online overview of the adoption process, we are delighted that you are considering adopting one (or more) of our animals.

Each year, we take in approximately 6,000 unwanted, abandoned or abused animals. Everything we do is in the interest of the animals in our care, and aimed at finding them the best possible chance of a good permanent home. Thank you for considering us!

Enjoy learning about some of the animals we currently have for adoption, visit the shelter when you have time, or stop by one of our adoption events!

Our adoption center is open Monday Through Saturday from 10am until 6pm except for Wednesday when we open at 1pm. Dog interactions will take place until 5pm and the last adoption begins at 5:30pm.

We have a few requirements you must meet before adopting a new companion. To be considered as an adopter today, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have valid identification with your present address
  • Have a telephone number
  • Be able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide proper care for your new companion

Understand that the HSWC reserves the right to deny any adoption for any reason.
