Help baby kittens by donating toward the HSWC's Kitten Shower!
Baby kitten season typically starts when the weather warms and intact cats reproduce at a more rapid rate than they do during more frigid temperatures. Continuing during the spring and summer, it is not uncommon for HSWC’s number of animal intakes to quadruple during this time. Because infant animals require more time and resources than adults, they are typically cared for offsite by volunteer foster families until they are ready for adoption. The donations received during the baby shower will help supply these volunteers with the essential items needed to care for the influx of kittens in their care.
From Saturday, March 24 through the end of April, the community is invited to bring donations for the incoming kittens to the shelter’s Adoption and Receiving Lobbies, where they will be collected in baby playpens. The most urgently needed donations are KMR powder or liquid kitten milk replacer, Yesterday's News kitty litter, kitten chow and wet pate kitten food (please no seafood flavors) or you can shop our wish list.
Before leaving the shelter, donors can submit a name that will be given to a kitten who enters the shelter during this kitten season.
