The Humane Society of Washington County will present HSWC Foster Parent D.J. Stouffer with the 3rd Annual Jone Bowman Champ Award at the LuHowl event on Saturday, June 11th at Historic Milestone Farm in Williamsport, MD.

“I am honored to receive this award, I have been a volunteer\foster for 8 years, this has been so rewarding for me,” said award recipient D.J. Stouffer. “The HSWC staff has been great over the years; they have always made me feel like part of their staff. I love what I am doing and hope to continue the success of saving lives for many more years to come!”

The Jone Bowman Champ Award recipient is chosen based upon a person’s advocacy for both the Humane Society of Washington County and for animals throughout the community.

“We are beyond excited to honor D.J. for all of his dedicated years of service to the animals, especially felines, of Washington County,” said HSWC Corporate Partnership and Events Coordinator Nikki Houser.  “Because of his amazing passion for saving lives, D.J. has been a member of the shelter’s team for longer than most employees.  He has been a leader and an essential member of the Foster Care Department, which has truly elevated the program.  We wanted to take this opportunity to recognize this outstanding animal welfare advocate.”

When D.J. is not fostering felines for the HSWC, he serves as the Senior Program Director for Youth Development at the YMCA of Hagerstown.

There are still a limited number of LuHowl tickets available. This fun and relaxing evening will feature an exciting silent auction with items donated by numerous people and businesses in the community. Participants will enjoy fantastic food, drinks and live entertainment. Tickets are $50.00 per person and can be purchased online at or at the front desk of the HSWC.  All proceeds will benefit spay/neuter programs at the HSWC.   Click here to purchase your tickets!
