Halloween Adoption Special!

The Humane Society of Washington County is running a holiday adoption special through the end of this month.

From now until Halloween (October 31st), adopters who bring a ‘treat’ for HSWC shelter pets will pay no adoption fee for cats, dogs, or small mammals. Shelter treats can include dog and cat toys, soft treats, bedding, cat litter, canned food, KMR (kitten milk replacer), paper towels and bleach. The HSWC wish list can be viewed at

"Our agency is caring for over 200 animals in need of loving homes,” Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ellen Taylor said. “Adopters visiting the shelter on Halloween will be in for a family-friendly good time. Many of our staff will be in costume and we encourage visitors to come in costume too.”

Pictures of all adoptable animals can be found on the shelter website, Adoptable animals have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and given worm and flea preventatives prior to being placed up for adoption. The HSWC also provides adopters with a complimentary health visit at a participating veterinarian, as well as an option for 30 days of free health insurance for their new family member. These services are valued at nearly $450.
