HSWC Celebrates Valentine's Day with No Adoption Fees and Lots of Kisses
The Humane Society of Washington County (HSWC) is celebrating Valentine’s Day with waived adoption fees for dogs and cats on Wednesday, February 14 from 1 pm – 6 pm. The dog adoption fees are being sponsored by Uniting to Save Animals: U2SA.
“There’s no better way to celebrate this holiday than to find your ‘true love’ in a shelter pet,” said Kat Cornell, Director of Operations. “By waiving adoption fees, we hope more families will be able to give the gift of love to an animal this Valentine’s Day and beyond!”
In addition to waived adoption fees, there will be a special Valentine’s Day kissing booth for patrons to receive sweet, sloppy kisses from a dog for a monetary donation.
Pictures of all adoptable animals can be found on the shelter website (www.hswcmd.org). Adoptable animals have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated according to age, and given worm and flea preventatives prior to being placed up for adoption. The HSWC also provides adopters with a complimentary health visit at a participating veterinarian, as well as an option for 30 days of free health insurance for their new family member.
Although adoption fees are waived, adopters are still responsible for payment of license fees, cardboard cat carriers, and merchandise purchased from the retail section.
U2SA is a nonprofit organization based in Frederick, MD that offers spay/neuter assistance to those who qualify. The organization promotes adoption of animals from HSWC and rescue groups to reduce pet overpopulation.
The HSWC is located at 13011 Maugansville Road, Hagerstown, and will be open from 1 pm – 6 pm on Wednesday, February 14.
