The Humane Society of Washington County will be closed on Wednesday, September 28th for staff continuing education.

The shelter will resume normal business operations on Thursday, September 29th.  Anyone experiencing an animal emergency regarding a stray or unowned animal during this day may call our emergency number at 301-790-7577.

Wednesday’s session, Trauma Exposure Response and Resiliency, will give the shelter’s dedicated staff the tools to continue to be effective in the long-term emotionally intense environment that is the industry.

“The leadership at HSWC believes in providing ongoing education to all team members,” says Kim Intino, President/CEO. “These workshops offer tools that allow not only job success, but personal development as well.”

The Humane Society of Washington County exists to promote the welfare of companion and domestic animals through educational programs and initiatives that reduce pet overpopulation, endorse fostering, enrich adoptions, and encourage responsible pet guardianship.
