HSWC GEARS UP FOR THE 14TH ANNUAL POLAR BEAR PLUNGE

The Humane Society of Washington County will be holding the 14th Annual Polar Bear Plunge at Greenbrier State Park on Saturday, January 14, 2017.

“This is our biggest event of the year and we hope it continues to grow,” said HSWC Corporate Partnership and Events Coordinator Nikki Houser.  “It’s a family-friendly, memorable event. You don’t easily forget freezing your fur off for the animals by plunging into Greenbrier Lake.”

There will be prizes awarded for the largest team, the most money raised, and the best costume for an individual and a group.

“We want people to have fun with it. So get your friends together, dress up, and make it a January day to remember!”

Last year the event grossed more than $41,000 making it the biggest fundraiser of the year for the HSWC.

Interested participants can register online for the 14th Annual Polar Bear Plunge by going to hswcmd.org and creating a personal fundraising page. The first 100 “polar bears” to register will receive a drawstring bag with the new Polar Bear Plunge logo. All pre-registered participants by January 5th will receive a long-sleeved custom T-shirt. Anyone who would like to sponsor a participant can go to hswcmd.org to make a donation.
