The Humane Society of Washington County (HSWC) is partnering with PetSmart Charities, the leading funder of animal welfare in North America, to participate in PetSmart’s Mega Adoption Weekend. The two-day adoption event will be held on Saturday, July 29 and Sunday, July 30 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the PetSmart location in Hagerstown at 17740 Garland Groh Boulevard.

Cats and dogs of all ages will be available for adoption. Adoption fees for cats will be waived as a part of Maryland 2,000, a month-long initiative to find homes for 2,000 felines statewide.

Thanks to a generous grant from PetSmart Charities, more animals will be featured onsite than usual. The goal is to place 30 animals into new homes during the Mega Adoption Weekend.

Available animals have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and given worm and flea preventatives prior to being placed up for adoption. The HSWC also provides adopters with a complimentary health visit at a participating veterinarian, as well as an option for 30 days of free health insurance for their new family member. Adopters will also receive a free single dose of Advantage Multi, a monthly broad-spectrum parasite protection, provided by Bayer.  These services are valued at more than $450.
