COVID-19 SHELTER UPDATE 3/23/20

Based on the executive order from Governor Hogan this morning, HSWC will be temporarily modifying some of our programs and services. Adoptions will close at 5 pm today. Don’t worry though! Essential staff will still be onsite making sure the animals are well cared for every single day. Dogs Rescued from South Korean Dog Meat Trade Available for Adoption at HSWC

Last week, the Humane Society of Washington County (HSWC) accepted fourteen dogs rescued from the dog meat trade in South Korea by Humane Society International (HSI). Many of the dogs, including a mother and her puppies, were rescued from the Gupo dog meat market, while others were rescued from the 15th Farm. The Humane Society of Washington County’s 17th Annual Polar Bear Plunge at Greenbrier State Park is rapidly approaching.  The number of participants and donations continue to grow and excitement is rising for the January 11th event.
