HSWC Announces Dates for 2018 Low Cost Rabies Clinics

The Humane Society of Washington County (HSWC) has announced dates for the 2018 Washington County Low Cost Rabies Vaccination, Microchip and Licensing Clinics. The two offsite clinics provide an important service to the community by offering an opportunity for area residents to protect their animals against a highly infectious and dangerous disease. These clinics help further the HSWC’s mission of encouraging responsible pet guardianship of animals that already have a loving home.

The Humane Society of Washington County will be closed on Wednesday, March 21 due to inclement weather. The Wellness Clinic scheduled for this day is canceled.  Don't worry about our furry friends. We have plans in place for weather events like this, and dedicated staff members will make sure the animals are well cared for despite the storm! Adoption Floors Closed from 12 pm - 1 pm Daily for "Nap Time"

The Humane Society of Washington County (HSWC) is implementing a new Nap Time initiative to benefit the health and wellbeing of shelter animals. Beginning March 12, 2018, the cat and dog adoption floors will be closed to visitors, staff and volunteers from 12 pm – 1 pm daily. This will allow the animals an hour of uninterrupted rest. During the one hour Nap Time, the shelter will remain open for business and phone calls.

HSWC Offers Community Wellness Clinics to Pets

The Humane Society of Washington County (HSWC) is offering Wellness Clinics to owned pets in Washington County. Held at the HSWC’s Veterinary Center, cats are serviced every first and third Wednesday of the month, and dogs are serviced every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Hours are 10:00 am – 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm. No appointment is necessary.

New Free-Roaming Cat Adoption Floor Opens March 2, Cat Adoption Fees Reduced

The Humane Society of Washington County (HSWC) will host a grand opening for its newly renovated free-roaming cat adoption room on Friday, March 2. The room will be open to the public during normal business hours from 10 am – 6 pm, and light refreshments will be served. The renovation was made possible thanks to a generous Innovation Grant from Maddie’s Fund®.

Maryland Dept. of Ag Grant Offers Free Spay/Neuter to Cats

At this time, we are unable to accept new appointments as our waiting list is full. Stay tuned to find out if we receive additional funding for next year. The Humane Society of Washington County (HSWC) has been awarded a grant from the Maryland Department of Agriculture to offer free spay/neuter services to owned cats living with low income families in the 21740, 21795, 21722, and 21783 zip codes. All cats fixed under the grant will also receive a free rabies vaccine, if necessary.
