HSWC Announces Pet Photos with Santa Day

The Humane Society of Washington County will be holding the 2nd Annual Pet Photo with Santa fundraiser at the HSWC on Saturday, December 3rd from 11 am to 3 pm. “This was such a fun event last year,” said Development Director Addie Nardi.  “Santa and Mrs. Claus were so excited to come back and do it again and pictures will be ready just in time for the holidays!”

HSWC Announces Adoption Event with Sharrett Subaru

The Humane Society of Washington County will be partnering with Sharrett Subaru for the 3rd Annual Adoption Event and Pet Photo Fundraiser on Saturday, November 19th from 11 am to 4 pm. “Sharrett Subaru is proud to again partner with the Humane Society of Washington County for our third adoption event,” said Administrative and Marketing Assistant Letti Palmer.  “It’s a wonderful opportunity for us to support the work they do in the community.”

HSWC Sets Precedent in Animal Cruelty Case

On Monday, October 24th, Joseph Bowers, Jr. was found guilty of 37 counts of animal cruelty by Judge Mark Thomas in the Washington County District Court. Bowers had been charged by the Humane Society of Washington County. HSWC Field Service Officers seized two horses belonging to Bowers on January 22nd of this year. At the time, he was charged with 12 counts of animal cruelty for failure to provide food, water, veterinary care, and causing unnecessary pain and suffering.

Halloween Adoption Special!

The Humane Society of Washington County is running a holiday adoption special through the end of this month. From now until Halloween (October 31st), adopters who bring a ‘treat’ for HSWC shelter pets will pay no adoption fee for cats, dogs, or small mammals. Shelter treats can include dog and cat toys, soft treats, bedding, cat litter, canned food, KMR (kitten milk replacer), paper towels and bleach. The HSWC wish list can be viewed at
